About this event
Often considered to be the most successful of the symposium events co-hosted by CUREE, the UC Berkeley - CUREE Symposium in Honor of Ray Clough and Joseph Penzien was a special occasion for recognizing the notable contributions made by two of the most influential researchers and educators in earthquake engineering.
The symposium featured a technical program that was of broad appeal to engineers in practice and academia. It combined historical perspectives with state-of-the art discussions by prominent experts on topics deriving from the seminal works of Professors Clough and Penzien. While social functions provided opportunities for young engineers and long-time friends alike to meet with these prominent figures in the fields of structural and earthquake engineering.
Special acknowledgment to Reed Helgens (and the CUREE staff) for planning this event and managing the many logistical details, which included budgeting, advertising, handling venue and speaker arrangements, and providing onsite technical support for this event.

" I don't think I have ever enjoyed anything so much as I did those three days in Berkeley... It is amazing that those former students, many of whom I havn't seen for dozens of years, still hold such an important place in my heart." - Dr. Ray Clough
