Some examples of CUREE produced exhibits, which often focused on teaching STEM concepts and/or the history of scientific research and development are shown below.
E-Defense Shake Table Traveling Exhibit
The motorized scale model obtained by CUREE from the National Institute of Earthquake Disasters (NIED) E-Defense agency in Miki City, Japan is a high quality, and richly detailed model of E-Defense, the world’s largest shake table. This user controlled display shows how the actuators make the platform move in both horizontal axes and vertically, and with pitch control, move either separately or together.
To help promote the NIED E-Defense facility and increase public awareness of this advancing research technology in the earthquake engineering field, CUREE helped to arrange various venues for publicly displaying this exhibit including at conventions, the University of California, Berkeley Earthquake Engineering Research Center and the Knowledge Center at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Currently the model resides at their DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library.
